Monday Morning Encouragement - Gentle Savior

"A bruised reed He will not break, And a dimly burning wick He will not extinguish;" Isaiah 42:3

When Isaiah prophesied of the Messiah, He showed Him as a Gentle Savior.  Jesus described Himself as "gentle and lowly in heart" (Matthew 11:29). The word "lowly" here means "humble". Jesus is gentle and He has a humble heart.

Throughout His ministry on earth, Jesus proved Himself to be compassionate and eager to answer the call of the hurting. He hasn't changed.  When we come to Him in a weakened state, He doesn't crush us. He tenderly restores us. When our light has dimmed, He doesn't pinch it out. He lovingly fans the failing flame. Our Lord is tender, loving, compassionate and willing to answer us when we call out to Him for help. Life bruises us and dims our light. We need Jesus the Gentle Savior to heal and restore us so that we may once again shine for Him.

David Phelps' beautiful song Gentle Savior encourages me to give my hand to Jesus and let Him gently lead me. I hope it will encourage you in this way, as well.

I love you, I'm thinking of you, and I'm praying for you.
