Years ago I owned a framed print of Katherine Brown's art "Jesus and the Lamb". When I made the big move from Ohio to Colorado in 2010, I gifted the print to a sweet friend. I had thought from time to time that I'd like to own this artwork again, and on a recent thrift store visit I found a framed print for $1. The oak frame was dated, but I knew I could change that.
I had seen a photograph frame I liked at that same thrift store, however the $7.99 price tag was a little more than I wanted to pay for a thrifted picture frame. That particular thrift store has Seniors Tuesdays where they have most of their stock discounted 50% for older customers, so I decided to wait and see if I could get the frame for $4.
And yes! It was still available when I stopped in after work. I noticed there was a $14.99 Homegoods price tag on the glass, so it was apparently brand new. I didn't get a photo of this, but there was a wide double mat behind the glass to frame whatever photo was added. I removed all that, as I wanted a larger opening for my print.
I removed the print from the oak frame and placed the glass from the new frame on top of the print and then traced it to get the right size to cut for my new frame's opening. Then I put the print with the new frame back together and bingo! I had my "Jesus and the Lamb" print framed just the way I like it.
I now can see the artwork from my bed, and it gives me comfort. I love the image of the sweet lamb nestled in Jesus' arms, and the nail scar revealed in the Savior's hand. I wrote in a March Monday Morning Encouragement how the artwork so perfectly depicts Isaiah 40:11:"He tends His flock like a shepherd: He gathers the lambs in His arms and carries them close to His heart; He gently leads those that have young." The artist said that scripture inspired this particular piece of art.
I have been refreshing my home after taking down many of the Christmas decorations. I left my tree up, but took off all the ornaments and left only the lights. I like the cozy feel of the lighted tree in the evenings. I hope to show you some of the winter changes I've made soon.
What have you been working on?
Hugs,
I love, love that picture. I have never seen it before. Now I have to look for one for myself! What a perfect image of Jesus holding us in His arms. Thank you for telling us about it and what a wonderful bargain you got with the frame.
ReplyDeleteI've been knitting a baby sweater, hat and now a blanket for our newest granddaughter who is due in March. I can't wait to meet her!
Blessings and hugs,
Betsy
Betsy, expecting a baby is so exciting. I'm looking forward to the photos you'll share. :) You are so skilled at knitting; I know your little granddaughter will be well dressed! Hugs.
DeleteI think someone above is looking after you in so many ways, Nancy. From love and care to providing even thrifty buying! You once again have managed to make a crafty project look lovely and inviting. No one better to see in the morn than Jesus with the eye and the heart. I have blue Christmas lights outlining the front window to get me through the dark dreary sunless days with a bit of color. Just can't get into a winter crafting project for some reason. Should be embroidering a large picture I bought for $1.50 as a kit. So I keep indoor busy and read. Lynn and Precious XX
ReplyDeleteI very much agree with you, Lynn. God is faithfully "looking after me in so many ways." I believe that one of the best ways to survive winter is with a good book. xx
Deleteabsolutely beautiful picture. I'm going to have to look for one for my apartment. It looks great in your frame.
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy I found it. I hope you find one, too, Arial! xx
Deleteso thankful for a faithful Shepherd..
ReplyDeletehow lovely this picture you reframed.
Wow this is beautiful Nancy. What a beautiful serene loving pick of Jesus and the lamb. Love the new frame you chose for this too. Happy New Week. xoxo
ReplyDeleteThat's such a pretty print. Love it,,, and the frame is such a good match. I'm working on absolutely nothing! Tree and all decs still up.. loving the tree so much but may take off the ornaments this week and put away the Christmas centerpiece on my table. I have done a little painting on my ceramic village houses that I've had for over 30 years... trying to get one more done, and then will put them away. When we get to March, I know I will want to start refreshing things, and I may just do a refresh on my bedroom.... if I stay motivated. Have a nice week! Marilyn
ReplyDeleteI've seen those ceramic village houses on your blog, Marilyn. They're very sweet, and I love how you are painting them. When I consider what you've gone through the past few months, I'm simply amazed at your forward motion. You are an inspiration to me, my friend! Love and hugs.
DeleteI love this image. Just so precious and hopeful. God bless.
ReplyDeleteLove.....
I'm glad you got your picture and frame. I'm not religious but I know how important your faith is to you Nancy and I have to say I agree with Lynn, it does seem as if someone is looking after you, which is nice x
ReplyDeleteClearly, this entire addition was meant to be yours and it's just lovely. I think the price is lovely, too! Hugs!
