Fall Decor In The Kitchen

Fall has officially arrived, and right on que our Colorado weather did a flip. We went from 90 degrees on Tuesday to 64 degrees and rain yesterday and today. It's okay, though. The cooler temps mean turning on the oven is acceptable again. At least for the next 24 hours. It'll be back in the 80's by the weekend.

Either way, fall decorating has begun here at A Joyful Cottage, and I'm ready to share some of the kitchen decor.

Most of the pieces in my centerpiece are objects I already had. The rooster is always in my kitchen. The little pitcher is a terra cotta piece I found at the thrift store. I rubbed it with white wax to soften it and show off the harvest detail.

The white roses came from my entryway, and the mini pomegranates and cotton were Dollar Tree finds. I was so impressed by their quality.

The white pumpkin is a Dollar Tree foam pumpkin that I painted with white chalk paint. I added a faux leaf, raffia and a cinnamon stick for the stem from my stash.

I also added some fall decor to the wall shelf. The acorn picks came from Hobby Lobby -- 50% off. I purchased the little pumpkin at Dollar Tree, and had planned to paint it until I saw how perfectly its copper color worked with the watercolor and acorns.

It's always fun to make seasonal changes in my home. I've got a few other things I'm working on, and will show them to you soon.

Have a great weekend!

Hugs,

  2. Oh, it all looks so beautiful. I love how you use what you already have or inexpensive things from the Dollar Store to make such lovely focal points in your home.

  4. The drastic change in weather on Sept. 22 hit here also. Only we are not going to warm up again. Just 60's days and 40's nights from now on says AccuWeather.
I enjoy your Fall decorations. I saw the golden pumpkins at Dollar Tree the other day but have no real good place to show them off so I walked on by with my blinders on, lol. I'm fortunate to have my grandmother's 100 year old white pitcher, it is marked "ironstone china, J & G Meakin, Hanley England. I keep silk flowers in it and change them out by the season too. Have fun with Fall decorating. Lynn and Precious xx

    1. So nice that you have something that belonged to your grandmother. Especially an antique! My pitcher is a contemporary piece, not an antique, but I do love it. xo

  6. It's all so pretty! I love Fall! We've had a slight weather change here too.. for a few days anyway.. and the nights are getting colder. In the morning, for the last 2 days, I've felt like turning on the heat! But then the days are back up in the 80's.. and even warmer ones coming again. We did have a little rain, but hardly enough to soak into the ground. I usually do a little Fall decorating in October, if and when the weather gets cooled off! Take care! Marilyn

    1. The last two months have been so hot here, that I'm more than ready for fall, though typically I dread its arrival because I know what comes after! LOL

  7. Your white and copper pumpkins are so pretty. And I love the white roses. They look so real. I think you had a lot of fun gathering items from your house to create such a lovely centerpiece and other decorations.

  8. The little pumpkin does look beautiful Nancy, right at home with the picture and the acorns. Your centrepiece is lovely, particularly the roses with the pomegranates and cotton, what a clever idea.
