Monday Morning Encouragement -- Sealed for Redemption

"In Him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in Him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of His glory." Ephesians 1:13-14

When we come to believe in Jesus Christ and put our trust in Him for salvation, a wonderful transaction takes place between God and us. He adopts us into His family, and we become His children. His daughter. His son. And just as a son or daughter of an earthly father becomes an heir, so we become heirs of the most precious possession of the Father: our redemption.

To guarantee our redemption, the Father places His seal upon our hearts with the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. This is why Jesus could say that no one can snatch us out of His hands (John 10:28-30). It's impossible. We're sealed unto the day of redemption, and this seal cannot be broken. This is to the praise of His glory!

We are confident in our inheritance -- our eternal salvation -- because we are indwelled by the Holy Spirit. He abides in us.

He confronts us when we sin.

He comforts us in our sorrow.

He counsels us when we need guidance.

He conforms us to the image of Christ.

Our Heavenly Father wants us to feel secure in His love. He doesn't want us to doubt that we belong to Him. The more we yield to the Spirit living within us, the more understanding we have of God's unconditional, everlasting love.

We must rest in the assurance that Jesus has bought us with His blood and that when He looks at us He proclaims, "This one is spoken for!"

Today's music video Spoken For by Mercy Me is a song of praise and worship to our living Savior. I know it will encourage you as it has me.

I love you, I'm thinking of you, and I'm praying for you.

  2. This is one of the most precious promises we have in Christ. How wonderful it is, when doubts and fears and worries cloud my mind to remember that I am sealed with a guarantee. And God does not go back on His promises! What a comfort this is.

Thank you for using your blog to share the wonderful news of eternal life in Christ. I pray that this will be a blessing for believers and will draw those who haven't met Christ to Him.

    1. In this crazy, ever changing (and not for the good!) world we live in, it has become more and more comforting to me to know that God never changes! He is the same today as He was yesterday, and tomorrow He will remain the same. Thank you for that reminder, Ellen! Happy August to you, as well! xo
