Monday Morning Encouragement - Pray for the People in Ukraine, and the Comfort of God's Word

Dear Friends,

Although Ukraine is over 5,000 miles from the United States, the agony of the Ukrainian people is near to many hearts here. I have heard from some of you about how this crisis is breaking your own heart. Not to mention those who have close relationships, and even family members in Ukraine. The images we see on the nightly news are hard to watch. And, of course, the whole world lives in fear of what worse things may come. Today I want to encourage you from God's word, as read by the Ukrainian people themselves.

I have downloaded a video from the UK Bible Society. Here's what they say about it:

"Psalm 31 has become ‘the key scripture' for all Ukrainians according to our colleagues. Watch this profoundly moving video of people across Ukraine reading it in bunkers and shelters."

The video is about 3 1/2 minutes long, and I know that those few minutes will inspire you, just as I have been inspired by it. God has not forsaken His people, and those who are called by His name are faithfully following Him, even and most importantly in the midst of great tribulation. We can follow the example of these brave Ukrainians, and pray along with them.

Also, we can reach out to the Ukrainian people with humanitarian aid. There are many organizations we can support in this effort. I, personally, have experience with Samaritan's Purse. Their organization "provides food, water, shelter, medicine, and other assistance in the Name of Jesus Christ." They currently are on the ground in Poland, Romania and Moldova. Here's their website, if you feel led to donate to their Ukrainian Relief effort: https://www.samaritanspurse.org/

Jesus said, "And whoever gives one of these little ones even a cup of cold water because he is a disciple, truly, I say to you, he will by no means lose his reward.”

I love you, I'm thinking of you, and I'm praying for you and the Ukrainian people.

  1. The video is beautiful. They are just like us except for language. Just sad they were going about their lives a few weeks ago and living their daily lives and now life has changed drastically for them. This could be any of us. I pray peace can prevail and the nightmare will end with evil gone and love and peace for these people again. Wishing you a good start to the new week Nancy. xoxo Kris

  2. Nancy, thank you for sharing the video. It is beautiful. I pray constantly for the people in the Ukraine. Their faith is inspiring. We give every month to Samaritan's Purse and have for quite some time. They give and work unselfishly in the name of the LORD to help those in need. Thank you for sharing the link for people to help these brave brothers and sisters.
    Blessings and love,
    Betsy

  3. We watched a short video in church yesterday of people in Ukraine singing praise songs in candle light because they have no electricity.
That is a perfect Psalm. It's so touching to see and hear them reciting it.

  4. Love your God with all of your heart and love one another as you love yourself. We must remember this, put God first and love his people. Pray and help wherever you see a need. This is a huge need for prayer and for monetary help. I agree, the perfect Psalm. Thank you for sharing this video.
