Monday Morning Encouragement - The Solid Rock

How is your home's foundation? Is it solid? Can it withstand heavy rains and high winds? Do you feel secure in your home when a storm blows through? Perhaps you're a little unsure of the foundation your home sits on. In that case, it's best to take measures to make sure it's solid. Today we'll look at what Jesus had to say about building a house on a solid foundation, and how that applies to our faith.

In Matthew 7:24-27, Jesus said this:

“Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.”

When we come to Christ and receive Him as our Savior, we place our trust in Him. We build our spiritual life on a firm foundation. Christ is the foundation that cannot be shaken, no matter what storms blow through our lives. We may tremble, but Christ will not! He is strong and able to hold us up above the tempest.

When we read God's word -- the words He gave us in the Bible -- and practice what we learn there, we continue to grow in our faith and it becomes  even stronger than it was yesterday. That's how it works with the Lord. We learn something from His word. We put what we have learned into practice. The result is more faith.

Are you growing in your faith? If not, examine your foundation and make sure its built on Jesus, then open the Bible and study what He is telling you there. I promise you will see a difference in your life, if you do this. Christ is the Solid Rock!

Today's music video The Solid Rock from The Hymns Project is a beautiful Choral piece with lyrics that declare the truth of scripture. I hope it ministers to you.

I love you, I'm thinking of you, and I'm praying for you.

  4. Hello Sweet Nancy,
Thank you for another wonderful Monday post. Your posts are a great way to start each week and bless you for your encouraging blog. I too love that old hymn, that and one I learned in Sunday school as a child. The chorus going, The rains came down and the floods came up, but the house on the Rock stood firm.
Praying that you have a week filled with joy.
