In April I shared the completion of my first quilt, and the beginning of my second quilt.
At the time of that post I had the pieces ready to sew into blocks. For this quilt I'm using the Lario 3 Sisters Layer Cake by Moda.
This is a very easy pattern; I finished the blocks in 2 days. Moving the blocks around until I have the design I want is very satisfying. At this point I see the quilt top coming together and a sense of accomplishment follows.
In May I gathered with my crafty friends for Ladies Day Out, and joined the blocks into rows.
This week we met again and I added the borders.
And here's the finished quilt top. I'm in love with this vintage look.
Now it's off to the quilt shop for the backing fabric.
What are you working on this week?
I'm sharing at these lovely parties:

DeleteThat's such a pretty pattern, Nancy! I love your combination of fabrics! Wow...I can't believe you just started doing this, you look like a pro! :)
ReplyDeleteOh, you're so sweet, Kim. This is such an easy pattern to work with. I'd highly recommend it to anyone just starting out like me. It's a confidence builder, for sure.
DeleteHi Nancy,
ReplyDeleteThank you for inviting me to Every Room in the House. I love your quilt, the fabric is adorable! I quilt too and find so much fun in doing so. I am your newest follower and I look forward to visiting again.
Have a sweet day, Elizabeth
Hi Elizabeth! Thanks for visiting, and for your leaving such a nice comment. It's great to make a new friend. :)
DeleteLovely it is . . . you are on a roll!
ReplyDeleteAnd where will this one go in that new house?
Thank you, Lynne. I had originally thought I would use this quilt in our new home, but have decided to give it to my granddaughter. I hope she'll like it.
DeleteNancy, oh how I love those fabrics! You did such a great job. Can't wait to see it quilted. I just got one back from the quilters and now I will bind it. I'm also almost finished with a cute small wool table runner. Thanks for sharing your lovely quilt with SYC my friend!
ReplyDeletehugs,
Jann
Thanks for your sweet words, Jann. Your wool table runner sounds like something I'd like. I'll have to hop over and see if you've shared it yet. Have a great week. XX ~ Nancy
DeleteI love the fabrics and colors you've used. It's beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI'm so mad at myself because I keep forgetting your Every Room party.
Hi Stacey. The party is open all month long. This month we're partying in the guest room, nursery or spare bedroom. Your post doesn't have to be a recent one. Come and link up with us. :)
DeleteI love the vintage looking prints you've used! I've never learned to quilt but I love to sew. I'm making dollies this week! Hugs, Diane
ReplyDeleteThank you, Diane. I'm a quilting beginner; just took my first class last October. It's something I've always wanted to learn and I'm so glad I decided to try it.
DeleteOh, Nancy...it is beautiful. Isn't quilting wonderful.
ReplyDeleteI am trying to make some decisions till I can finish what is shown here: http://picsandpiecing.blogspot.com/2014/06/etc.html
Thanks, Rose. I'm headed over to your link right now. Thanks for visiting. :)
DeleteLooks very nice...enjoy your quilting! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Deb.
DeleteYour quilt is looking very pretty - I like the colours you've chosen. The sense of accomplishment, once you can see a project come together is lovely, isn't it? Me - I'm working on one of two needlepoint Christmas stockings for twin grandchildren.
ReplyDeleteYes, seeing a project come together is lovely. Very satisfying. I think needlepoint Christmas stockings for your twin grands is a wonderful way to spend your time. Thanks for stopping by. :))
DeleteThis is gorgeous: I'm amazed how many different fabrics you used and how you managed to make them work together.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Magali. I used precut coordinated fabrics that come in a bundle. That made it much easier to make all the different fabrics and colors work. I'm glad you like the quilt top.
DeleteI love the house plans for your new cottage and the quilt is wonderful! Love the colors and the design.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Dianne
