Monday Morning Encouragement -- God, Our Promisekeeper!

"God is not man, that He should lie, or a son of man, that He should change His mind. Has He said, and will He not do it? Or has He spoken, and will He not fulfill it?" Numbers 23:19

In a world where earthly promises are made and broken every day, there is great comfort in knowing that God never breaks a promise He has made. He keeps every single one. Not only does this fact bring comfort, it also brings peace. For we can know with certainty that no matter what may come, God is on His throne and He will accomplish His perfect will for our good and His glory.

When something unfortunate happens to us, looking back on all the promises God has kept in our own lives will help us move forward. I have experienced the loss of a spouse and widowhood for three years, followed by a toxic second marriage which ended in divorce ten years later. I have seen the fulfillment of God's promise, "I will never leave you, nor forsake you." Oh, how true this is! Honestly, I've lived alone now for over six years, and I expect to live the rest of my life alone. In every way God is enough. He is my faithful companion who never leaves me, nor forsakes me. And what an incredible blessing it is to know that our relationship will never end. It's eternal.

According to 2 Corinthians 1:20, all of God's promises find their "yes" in Christ Jesus. And through Him we "utter our Amen for His glory." The greatest promise of our Heavenly Father was to send us His Son to atone for our sins and give us eternal life. He has kept that promise -- a promise that cost Him everything -- so why should we not put to rest any doubt that He will fulfill every other promise He made?

Today's music video Take You At Your Word by Cody Carnes has lyrics that echo today's devotional. We sang it in our worship service yesterday, and it's been playing over and over in my mind. Enjoy!

I love you, I'm thinking of you, and I'm praying for you.
