Monday Morning Encouragement -- Our Solid Rock

“Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock." Matthew 7:24-25

Many years ago I heard of a residential subdivision where the home foundations were giving way, and the houses were literally sinking into the earth below. Apparently, the developer had not properly researched the soil properties before proceeding with building the houses, and the clay-based soil was shifting. The result was horrific. Imagine losing your home under such circumstances.

Just as a solid foundation is crucial to building a structure that will stand the test of time, so a solid spiritual foundation is crucial to building a Christian life that will stand strong regardless of our circumstances. Jesus never promised that our lives would be free of trouble, but He did promise that if we place our trust in Him, He will be with us, and we will have the strength and courage to stand firm. He is the solid rock that we need to build our lives upon, anything less will not do. 

There is no God like our God. There is no Rock like Jesus. Let's make 2026 the year we spend more time with Him, learning from Him and putting His words into practice. If we do this, we will arrive at the end of the year with more faith, more trust, and greater strength for our journey.
