Monday Morning Encouragement -- God Our Ebenezer

"Then Samuel took a stone and set it up between Mizpah and Shen and called its name Ebenezer; for he said, 'Till now the Lord has helped us.'" 1 Samuel 7:12

Under Samuel's leadership, Israel experienced a great revival. Sins were confessed, idols destroyed, and the people began to serve the Lord. In 1 Samuel 7:10-11 we read:

"As Samuel was offering up the burnt offering, the Philistines drew near to attack Israel. But the Lord thundered with a mighty sound that day against the Philistines and threw them into confusion, and they were defeated before Israel.  And the men of Israel went out from Mizpah and pursued the Philistines and struck them, as far as below Beth-car."

To honor God's faithfulness in decisively defeating the Philistines, Samuel set up a stone between Mizpah and Shen, and named the stone "Ebenezer", which means "stone of help." The Ebenezer was a constant reminder of God's power and protection.

As we enter the New Year, we can set up our own spiritual Ebenezers. Recalling how God has helped us this past year. Perhaps making a list of all the ways He has blessed us. And taking time to praise Him and worship Him out of gratitude for His goodness and faithfulness to us. What a great way to end 2025 and welcome 2026!

Today's music video is Come the Fount (Above All Else) by Shane and Shane. This is song that will encourage worship of our great God.

I love you, I'm thinking of you, and I'm praying for you.
