Monday Morning Encouragement -- God's Word - The Delight of Our Hearts

"Your words were found and I ate them,  And Your words became for me a joy and the delight of my heart; for I am called by Your name O Lord, God of Hosts." Jeremiah 15:16

At a Gideon convention D. J. De Pree of Zeeland, Michigan said of God's word: “We must read it (1 Tim. 4:13); eat it -- that is, take it into our very being (Job 23:12; Jer. 15:16); bathe in it for spiritual cleansing (John 15:3); look into it as a mirror to see our true self (James 1:23-25); meditate on it (Psalm 1:2; 1 Tim. 4:15); memorize it (Deut. 11:18; Psalm 119:11); study it (2 Tim. 2:15; Heb. 5:12-14); teach it to others (Deut. 11:19; Col 3:16) ; talk about it (Josh. 1:8); and sow its seeds of truth in the field of the world (Matt. 13:3-9; Luke 8:11).
"

Of today's verse Spurgeon said:

"Do you understand what you are reading in Jeremiah 15:16? That is the main point. The butterflies flit over the garden, and nothing comes of their flitting; but look at the bees, how they drive into the bells of the flowers and come forth with their thighs laden with the pollen and filled with the sweetest honey for their hives. This is the way to read your Bible: get into the flowers of Scriptures, plunge into the inward meaning, and suck out that secret sweetness which the Lord hath put there for your spiritual nourishment."

What a wonderful analogy Spurgeon gives us! Blessed are those who like a bee "drive into" and feast upon the word of God. Who find joy in it and for whom it becomes the delight of their hearts.

Today's music video Speak O Lord by Keith and Kristyn Getty reflects the greatness of God's word. Enjoy it, and be encouraged by this beautiful song.

I love you, I'm thinking of you, and I'm praying for you.
