"And as they were frightened and bowed their faces to the ground, the men said to them, “Why do you seek the living among the dead? He is not here, but has risen. Remember how He told you, while He was still in Galilee, that the Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men and be crucified and on the third day rise.” Luke 24:5-7
At early dawn, on the first day of the week, the women who loved Jesus walked to His tomb in order to anoint His body with spices and ointments they had prepared. They knew exactly where His body was laid because they had followed Joseph of Arimathea when he took Jesus body and laid Him in the tomb.
When they arrive at the tomb they find the stone rolled away and Jesus' body gone. Two angels appear, and ask the question, "Why do you seek the living among the dead?" Now, this is a profound question that shouldn't be overlooked. For in it, the angels immediately make known to the women that Jesus is not dead. Jesus is alive! Then they go on to explain that Christ has risen, just as He said He would. The women remembered what Jesus had said, and they went on to tell the rest of the disciples that the Lord was alive.
Jesus is still alive! He is the Living One who lives in the hearts of men and women who have received Him as their Savior. He transforms hearts of stone into softened hearts of flesh. His victory over death is our victory. Because He lives, we will live. Death will give way to life everlasting with Him. This is the hope that we have and which should inspire us to worship Him every day. Our hearts should burn with the knowledge that we serve a risen King. Hallelujah!
