Monday Morning Encouragement -- God of All Comfort

"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort," 2 Corinthians 1:3

Lately I've been binge watching YouTube videos of soldiers coming home from deployment, especially fathers surprising their children. There's just something about the reaction of the little ones that tugs at my heart; watching them scream, "Daddy!" and running with their arms wide open, to then be scooped up into the strong arms of their father, and weep as their father comforts them. It's such a beautiful and emotional time.

I can't help but equate those loving, strong arms of the soldier with the arms of my Heavenly Father. It's amazing to me that although God is spirit and has no physical arms to hold me, still I sense His embrace when I am lonely, His comfort when I am hurting.

What gives me even more solace is knowing that my Heavenly Father and I will never be separated. He will never be called away from me. He is as near to me as my next breath, and will remain so until the day He calls me home. What a glorious day that will be when I can run into the arms of my Savior, and see Him face to face!

Today's music video I Know My Father Loves Me sung by Sally DeFord is a tender song dedicated to the love of our Father for His children.

I love you, I'm thinking of you, and I'm praying for you.

  2. I remember doing a Tozer study last fall and what stood out the most from the whole thing was a statement you made here: God is as near as my next breath. That has stayed with me, and if we really think about all that it means, how it changes how we live our day to day lives. He's that close, always here. I just love that and am glad you pointed that out!!

  3. Those are some lovely videos, Nancy, I agree. I recently saw one where a young man who graduated from college found out his mom was in the audience, on special leave for the ceremony. I cried...Hoping you are well. xo
