Monday Morning Encouragement -- Our Unchanging God

"Of old You founded the earth,
And the heavens are the work of Your hands.
Even they will perish, but You endure;
And all of them will wear out like a garment;
Like clothing You will change them and they will be changed.
But You are the same,
And Your years will not come to an end."
Psalm 102:25-27

Businessman and author Philip Crosby once said, "If anything is certain, it is that change is certain. The world we are planning for today will not exist in this form tomorrow." I doubt too many people would argue with Crosby's view.

Things in this world do change rapidly. Technology, commerce, politics, education, relationships -- you name it. But no matter how much the world changes, God never will. All that He is, He has always been and always will be. God can't change because He is perfect and will remain so. Theologians call this the "immutability" of God. "[God] exists forever, and is always the same. He does not grow older. His life does not wax or wane. He does not gain new powers nor lose those that He once had. He does not mature or develop. He does not get stronger, or weaker, or wiser, as time goes by. God is immutable and can never cease to be what He is." – J.I. Packer, Knowing God

What a comfort to know that this Jesus in whom we trust will never change. " I find so much peace in knowing that He is never moody. Think of it! We don't have to wonder if  the Lord is having a bad day. We don't have to walk on eggshells, afraid that coming to Him just now may not be the right time. Maybe we should wait until tomorrow. No! Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever." (Hebrews 13:8) Yesterday He welcomed us with open arms. Today He welcomes us the same way. And tomorrow. . .and the day after that. . .and the day after that. Eternally. He never changes.

Our Unchanging God. What an amazing gift He is to us!

Today's music video God, the Uncreated One (King Forevermore) by the Gettys and Friends is a tribute to our King Jesus, and so beautifully expresses the Gospel. Praise our Unchanging God!

I love you, I'm thinking of you, and I'm praying for you.

  2. It really is a comfort Nancy, when so many things are changing so rapidly, to know that the Lord is the same, always wanting the best for us, always available, always perfect. It is an especially great comfort for me to know that He is in complete control. No matter how crazy things get, nothing catches God off guard and He is always, always in control and will ultimately make everything right. As I daily pray for unsaved family and friends, I am so grateful for His patience and His kindness when I get in the dumps about it, and I trust Him completely! What a gift we have in Jesus!
