Monday Morning Encouragement -- Eternal Words

"Heaven and earth will pass away,
but my words will not pass away." Matthew 24:35

I have read many non-fiction books written by Christian authors over the years. There are many more on the shelves of bookstores and the public library that I will never have time to read. They are not divinely inspired. In fact, there are some authors who, after they have written a certain work, comment years later that they wrote in error.

We can weary ourselves looking for answers in books written by men and women, or we can strengthen our hearts and minds by making the Bible our source of instruction. Between its covers we find all we need for an abundant life.

I have found there is something marvelous that happens after decades of studying God's word. There is a steady, firm trust in scripture that no one or no thing can disrupt. All else may fail, but the words of the Lord never will.

Why would I turn to any other place to find comfort, hope, peace, love and guidance, when all those things and more are found on the pages of my Bible?

Today's music video Ancient Words by Michael W. Smith speaks to the truth found in the Bible and how that truth changes our hearts. I hope you enjoy it.

I love you, I'm thinking of you, and I'm praying for you.

  1. Years of daily Bible reading have solidified so many answers for me, as well.
Query: are you going to continue posting about living large in small places cottages around the world?

    1. Regarding the living large series, I doubt it. It takes a lot of time to search for cottages, get permission to use photos, download, write, etc. So, considering I'm working full time now, the thought seems overwhelming. However, I never say never. Curious. . .is that something you're interested in??

  2. Amen and amen. I read this quote from Alistair Begg recently, "You want to know how to get the devil to leave you? Use your Bible, read your Bible, learn your Bible, quote your Bible, understand your Bible." Have a good week Nancy.

  4. The Word of the Lord never fails you. It is always there like a beacon calling each of us home. I always read works written by others with a touch of scepticism. It has to conform to the Word or it is not worth reading and even possibly harmful.
    Blessings,

    1. Absolutely right, Betsy. One reason why I'd rather read Spurgeon, Tozer, or theologians from years ago than contemporary authors.

  5. So true.. when I have questions, I almost always go to the Bible to find the answers! Nothing else works or matters to me.
