Welcome to the debut of A Joyful Cottage
Do you have a dream home? My dream home looks very much like the one in the photo above. A thatched roof cottage with climbing roses framing the front door. Very romantic. This cottage is a vacation rental, located in Potterne Wiltshire, United Kingdom.
My own cottage looks quite different.
Over the years I've come to appreciate simplicity. British craftsman William Morris said, “Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful.”

Our Cottage (A Remodeled 1926 Cabin) |
Over the years I've come to appreciate simplicity. British craftsman William Morris said, “Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful.”
I've had my beloved vintage pinch bottle for 42 years. Found in a dusty antique shop in Taft, California. |
My husband Dennis Reinke is a visual artist. One of his early watercolors graces a wall in our lingering room.
We're in the process of setting up our Joyful Cottage Etsy shop where we'll make 5x7 prints of Dennis' original watercolors and oils available for sale. And this leads me to my Joyful Cottage Giveaway. This is your chance to win an unframed 5x7 Reinke print of your very own. The giveaway is open to everyone, no matter where you live. All that's needed is a valid email address so we can contact you for your mailing address.

ReplyDeleteThank you, Cheryl. Do you have a blog?
DeleteI recently added Joyful Altitude to my Google Reader and just now Joyful Cottage! Each of these pictures are wonderful, but my heart was drawn most to #8,9 and 11.
ReplyDeleteJoyfully ~ Debbie :)
Debbie, thank you. Do you have a blog? I can't access your profile to find it.
DeleteI've found that I enjoy reading blogs much more than maintaining one, but the one I did have - "By Grace Through Faith" can be found here: http://fromlaw2grace.blogspot.com/
DeleteI understand, Debbie. There are sooooo many great blogs out there. I wish I had more time to really peruse them. I went to your Grace Through Faith blog and enjoyed what you shared there. Solid stuff. God bless.
DeleteHi Nancy, beautiful blog, beautiful watercolors. I like Quiet Time, Silver Plume Antique Shop, and Water Lilly. Especially like Quiet Time - you can just feel the sun come through the trees. Let me know when you are on Etsy!

ReplyDeleteI joined you on GFC and had a tough time picking my faves but since you are twisting my arm (smile) I will go with 1, 8, and 11 - but if I win, don't hold me to these - there were 6 that I had a hard time choosing amongst and I'm not sure which one I'd pick if I'm the lucky winner! :-)

Thanks, Ramona, for you kind comments. I now have subscribed to Create With Joy via email. Thanks for inviting me. I also linked up on your Friday meme: a post from Joyful Altitude about the Titus 2 woman God placed in my life. Thanks for hosting such wonderful memes. God bless. (By the way, I tried to follow you on GFC, but the screen wouldn't pop up to let me.)
DeleteYour husbands artwork is beautiful! It's so hard to choose just 3 but I will go with #4, #5 and #11. I am now following you and so excited to do so! This is a very generous giveaway. How exciting!
ReplyDeleteThanks for entering, Jill. It's great to have you visit and we appreciate your nice words. Dennis is a very generous man. One of the things I most admire about him. God bless.
DeleteHi Nancy, What a beautiful blog - I'm a cottage lover too! I do another blog for the Shakespeare Garden in my hometown, you'll have to check that out sometime too! A real thatched cottage in South Dakota, if you can believe it! I'm joining up with your team of followers and if I must pick...#5,#6,and #11 would be at the top. They are all beautiful, your husband is very talented! Thanks for stopping by Sall's Country Life, happy to have you! Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping in and entering the giveaway. I did a search and found the Shakespeare Garden site. Beautiful! I read a little and if I've got it right the Shays who built the cottage patterned it after Anne Hathaway's cottage in England. I recently saw a photo of the Hathaway cottage and so was excited to see the Shay's cottage. Perhaps one day you could be a guest blogger on A Joyful Cottage and share with the readers about this unusual cottage. Let me know if that's something that would interest you. By the way, I am now following the Shakespeare Garden blog. Nice job.
DeleteI'm following and can't wait to see your Etsy shop. Although I'm particularly fond of still life and do love your husband's Veggie Still Life, I'm voting for #6, #11 and #4.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Charade. So glad you made it here. God bless.
DeleteI pinned! Thanks for the chance to win!
ReplyDeleteI facebooked! Thanks again!
ReplyDeleteI'm following on Networked Blogs also! Congrats on your new blog!
ReplyDeleteI'd become a follower, well, actually, I just did, even if you weren't having a giveaway. I'm trying my best to give away to thrift stores so much it's getting pathetic. They see hubby coming and run to help him. Squeeeeal!!!!
ReplyDeletexoxo,
Connie
Connie, we'd love it if you would come back and choose 3 of your favorite prints from the ones we posted. If you do that we can enter you in the giveaway. If you win, you can always give away the print as a gift. At any rate, thank you for following. God bless.
DeleteNancy,
ReplyDeleteI was looking for a Christian artist blog and stumbled upon A Joyful Cottage's page for a giveaway! Needless to say, I'm very excited to learn more about your husband's art and to read your blog.
My favorites are #6, #7, and #11
I follow you on Networked Blogs and on GFC (as Elena V). Thank you so much!

ReplyDeleteI'm not sure what happened to my other message. If it comes through just delete it.
DeleteI was going to follow you even if there wasn't a giveway. Your husband's art is beautiful.
I would choose 1,7,and 8. & reminds me of where my daughter got married. It was on a mountaintop in a teeny tiny chapel overlooking the Continental Divide near Estes Park. I travel to Colorado every 3 or 4 months to visit my children and little grandchildren. Where do you live in the mountain? Beautiful state to live in.
I follow all blogs that have COZY and COTTAGE in their name. Come visit me at Cozy Blanket.
Debby, it's great to have you as a friend. We live in Estes Park. Would love to have you visit us next time you're in Colorado. I have another blog @ htto://joyfulaltitude.com where I have lots of photos and information about our place. Your daughter picked a beautiful place to marry. I wonder if she was married in St. Malo's Chapel on the Rocks, outside of Estes. I'm following your blog now. Love the quilt on your sofa. God bless.
DeleteI added your giveaway to the Great Giveaways section of my sidebar at Create With Joy!
ReplyDeletePerhaps my view is different because it's Sunday, but today, #7 Quite Time really caught my eye!
Have a blessed day!
Nancy, how exciting (and probably a bit stressful) opening a gallery! His work is wonderful... I used to be a watercolorist selling large photo-realistic paintings of old one room schools and pioneer churches (but now 12 hour days five days a week have stopped that process, now I just take photos). My favs are - #1 Windbreakers, #2 Silver Plume Antique Shop, and #3 Poppies. How generous of you both to give one away!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Madge, for taking the time to leave such a nice comment. It's interesting to see what fellow bloggers do and have done with their lives. God bless.

ReplyDeleteNancy . . .
ReplyDeleteI think I have found out my problem. I am on my lap top now instead of the iPad and I am not locking up. Apple says it is something between the font/script from one blog to another. I will have to check this out more.
Your husband is a wonderful Artist and I would be thrilled/honored to receive one of his prints. I liked each one for different reasons but my final choices are 1,4 and 6.
I enjoy your Joyful Cottage, love your header and look forward to more visits in the future!
Love, Lynne
I'm glad you figured it out and made it over to my Joyful Cottage. :) Great to have you as a friend, Lynne.
DeleteYour header is stunning...it is about 2 degrees outside right now & when I saw your top image, it was suddenly a summer day.
ReplyDeleteI would choose #2, #7 & #10...all are so appealing, but those 3 speak to me personally.
So happy Lynn over Irish Cottage sent us over for a visit!
I will return again.
Really glad Lynn steered you here. It's good to meet you. Thanks for your kind comments on the header. That is actually a photo I took of The Fawnbrook Inn in Allenspark, CO. My husband and I were married there two years ago. It's the most charming place and gardens. It has the beautiful cottage feel I love. I hope to see you here often. :) And thanks for entering the giveaway.
DeleteHi Nancy,
ReplyDeleteThank you for your sweet comment and directing me to your blog and this giveaway. Your husband is so very talented!!! These are all so good. I would have to say that I think my 3 favorite are probably # 6, 7, and 11. I just followed via GFC, but I am not set up on Networked Blogs. I don't know if I told you before...but, my husband is from Colorado and this lets me know why he loves it SO MUCH!!! This is such a wonderful thing you and your husband are doing...blessings,
Erin @ Chronic Christian Crafter
Good to have you stop by, Erin. I enjoy your blog, as well. God bless.
