About Me

Welcome to A Joyful Cottage

Inside this mid-western born farmgirl beats the heart of a gypsy. Prior to making Texas my home with my artist husband Dennis in April 2018, I lived in 6 other states; four of those states with my late husband, who journeyed home to the Lord in 2007.

My passion is God first, and then living the life He has given me in such a way that it blesses others and glorifies Him.  He has blessed me beyond anything I deserve.  Although losing a spouse is messy, and the journey through grief may feel like a roller coaster ride in a never-ending dark tunnel, God has faithfully brought me to a place of peace and contentment.

This blog reflects my love for all things cottage: architecture, gardens, decor, food, hospitality and more.  A Joyful Cottage celebrates living simply, being thankful for each day, and basking in the joy that results.

Thank you for visiting and allowing me to share a bit about myself.  The best thing about blogging is meeting nice people like you.  I hope you'll come back often.

“The real things haven't changed. It is still best to be honest and truthful; to make the most of what we have; to be happy with simple pleasures; and have courage when things go wrong.” ― Laura Ingalls Wilder
