About The Cottage Lover

My name is Nancy Reinke, and I reside in Northeast Oregon with my artist husband Dennis Reinke.  We moved here from Colorado in July 2013. Before marrying Dennis in 2010 I lived in four other states in the U.S.A. with my late husband, who journeyed home to the Lord in 2007.

Dennis -- whom I affectionately call "Captain" as in Captain of My Heart -- and I love this beautiful region we now call home.  It's rich in history; a place where people live close to the land and care about their neighbors.  Nobody hurries much here, and that's fine with us.  Not rushing means we can stop and gaze at the beautiful mountains, enjoy drives past the ranches and farms that surround us, and marvel at the horses, cattle and other livestock grazing in this unspoiled place.

My passion is God first, and then living the life He has given me in such a way that it blesses others and glorifies Him.  He has blessed me beyond anything I deserve.  Although losing a spouse is messy, and the journey through grief may feel like a roller coaster ride in a never-ending dark tunnel, God has faithfully brought me to a place of peace and contentment.

This blog reflects my love for all things cottage: architecture, gardens, decor, food, hospitality and more.  A Joyful Cottage celebrates living simply, being thankful for each day, and basking in the joy that results.

Thank you for visiting and allowing me to share a bit about myself.  The best thing about blogging is meeting nice people like you.  I hope you'll come back often.
