Living Large In Small Spaces - Lake Cottage

If you fancy color, then this lake cottage may suit you just fine.

Welcome to the sixty-sixth post in the series
"Living Large in Small Spaces".

From the charming front porch we enter into a bright and cheery sunroom.

Aqua sets the peaceful tone. White trim is classic American cottage.

Green expands the color palette. When I first saw this room I thought "sea glass".

The raised ceiling and natural light from the skylights make this small room seem larger.

Little touches of white add so much to this color scheme.

Clearly this vintage cottage has been updated, yet its delightful character has been preserved.

If one can't have a kitchen window over the sink, then a charming cabinet with open shelves to display pretty dishware is the next best thing.

The bedroom is a comfortable size. I'm normally not drawn to upholstered headboards, however this one really softens the room.

Pretty tile in the bathroom echoes colors from the rest of the cottage.

No beach cottage would be complete without an outdoor shower.

I think this sweet little cottage lives pretty large. How about you?

Erin of the beautiful blog Just Grand and her husband own this delightful vacation home. You can visit Erin's blog here.

  5. HI Nancy, this is a doll house cottage, clean and crisp feeling, everything in model home placement.
Would love to own a beach cottage to holiday at, perhaps live there year around....

This sweet cottage needs some of your twine and rag style rugs tossed about the home in all these sea colours.

  14. It certainly does live large! I really like the view from the dining area into the kitchen.

Nancy, I read a quote that reminded me so much of you. It was by painter Julia Jacquette: "I can't have houses around the world, but I can paint them."

You may not have houses around the world, Nancy, but you write so beautifully about them.

  18. It is perfect.

All that aqua and white, OH DEAR, if I were to concentrate on a color, it would be AQUA. Nancy, you sure know how to PICK 'EM! This is just a tiny little home, like so many of them in my neighborhood that if ONLY some of the owners had the money, they could doll up these vintage doll houses and make a splash. This one is perfectly fitted with the right sized appliances and furniture! And to top it off, those aqua beach towels on the fence...perfection.

  19. I love how they have used the same beautiful aqua and pale greens throughout the cottage. That green trunk/table in front of the couch is fabulous! So pretty! I live in the Finger Lakes area of Upstate NY and we can drive along the Lake Road and see this style cottage on any of the five lakes. So quaint from the outside and so pretty inside. My dream home.

    1. The photos are proprietary to the photographers and as such they aren't pinnable. Sorry. You can, however, go to Erin's blog and pin from the posts she's published on the cottage. She also has a Pinterest board you can find from her blog, and it has a lakehouse board with some photos from her cottage.
