Living Large In Small Spaces - Chapel Cottage

Forty-second post in the series
"Living Large in Small Spaces"

Happy August and welcome to another edition of Living Large In Small Spaces.

I guess it's no surprise to regular visitors of A Joyful Cottage that I love the traditional cottages of Wales. I try not to crowd this series with them, but their charm speaks so much to this cottage girl's heart that I can't hold back for very long.

This week's featured cottage is located in the Black Mountains of Wales and is listed as a vacation rental with Blaentrothy Holiday Cottages

Named Chapel Cottage, the quaint stone cottage has been completely remodeled by the artist owners.

A wood burner warms the cozy sitting room. Rough hewn beams throughout the cottage maintain its classic style.

To the right of the fireplace a simple painting and pottery rest in a sweet alcove.

A corner of the room creates intimate dining.

The galley kitchen is small, but well-appointed. A skylight along with traditional cottage windows provides ample natural light.

The kitchen's black and white checkerboard floor is repeated in the bathroom.

A wonderful antique velvet-covered French bed is showcased in the second floor master bedroom.

The ground floor second bedroom hosts twin iron beds that are described as "zip-and-link" beds.  The beds can be zipped together to create a king-size bed. Brilliant.

I like the formal blue and white toile drapes paired with the rustic green chest.

French doors open onto the garden.

This is al fresco dining at its best.

An entrance porch at the rear of the cottage provides a place to store boots and coats.

Every cottage needs a garden gate.

Especially one that leads to an enchanting meadow.

I hope you enjoyed this tour of Chapel Cottage as much as I did.

  3. Hello Sweet Nancy,
Taking your cottage tours has become one of my favorite blogging adventures. This is such a charming cottage . . . this is my style, much more than the larger more modern homes. That and the fact that it is located among fields of wildflowers . . . what could be more lovely than that :)
    Have a happy weekend.
    Your blogging sister,
    Connie :)

  14. Lovely Nancy! HELLO! Many thanks for coming to visit my blog post! How I love the many desires that God puts in our heart to walk in His footsteps. I am always amazed that we are created in His image, the image of the creator. We then turn to the life around us and run and have FUN with the many possibilities to express what we experience.

Enjoy the day in your cottage, making it just right! Anita
