Every Room In The House - The Finale

Poppy View: Fireside, with Frosty's Friends

Welcome Cottage Friends and Happy New Year!

I hope your Christmas and New Year celebrations were filled with joy.

Let's look at some of what was shared at the December Every Room In The House party.

Most Viewed December Post

Poppy of Poppy View filled her pretty green hutch with festive goodies  In Merry Measure. I love eye candy like this. . .sweet inspiration with no calories!

"Resistance is futile! You either jump on the decorating train or get out of the way. . ." So began Aimee's A Few of my favorite {Christmas} things. . . at Refresh-Renew.  The cars of Aimee's decorating train were certainly filled with glorious Christmas vignettes.

AnnMarie at Musings of a Vintage Junkie welcomed us into her delightful Victorian parlor in A Very Vintage Christmas.  For me, seeing all her vintage finery brought back memories of past Christmases. Very nostalgic.

Even the bathroom at Terry's Forever Decorating home was gilded for Christmas.  All the other Vignettes of  Christmas 2014 she showed around her home are lovely, too.

Casey at Living A Cottage Life shared her cozy Christmas House Tour: Family Room.  She had a head start on Christmas decorating with those pretty red checked curtains!

Rustic Christmas Living Room

A Simple, Rustic Christmas was  Kim's decorating theme at Exquisitely Unremarkable. With a remarkable $10 budget and the repurposing of decorations and used items she "normally doesn't put out" Kim created a one-of-a-kind, charming Christmas cottage.

The inspiration for Dawna's Simple Christmas Mantel started with a trip to Ikea.  I just love how she brought this lovely "woodland" mantel together without breaking the bank at That Country Place.

Do you have a favored place for your Christmas tree?  Laurel of The North End Loft says, "We always have our fresh cut Christmas tree here in the corner of the entry where we can see it from the whole house." Her Christmas In Our Living Room is chock full of Christmas prettiness.

Rita at Sammy's Grammy reminded us of the true gift of Christmas in Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas, and showed us how she decorates for this special event.  I love her vintage bedspread Christmas trees with their spool trunks.  So sweet!

Gina's Christmas In The Parlor is stunning.  Walking through the doors would be like stepping back in time.  Christmas post cards from the 1900's, a feather tree and a vintage nativity are just a few of her wonderful period Christmas decorations at Victorian Wanna Be.

Isn't this a great collection of rooms decorated for Christmas? I can't think of a more perfect way to end 2014 and usher in the New Year than touring these charming homes. Hop in the sleigh and pay each one a holiday visit for the full effect.

This is the final Every Room In The House party; I've chosen not to continue it in 2015. We truly did party in every room in the house in 2014, and now it's time to clean up the confetti and turn off the lights. Many of you have partied with me regularly and have been incredibly supportive of the party and me. You are a wonderful group of women who have inspired me and many others with your creativity and love of home. I'm so honored and grateful that you chose to party here. You can be sure I'll keep visiting you to see what you're up to.

2015 is going to be a busy and exciting year at A Joyful Cottage. The construction of our very own little cottage will begin soon, and I can't wait to share the experience with you.

I'll also be continuing the weekly Living Large In Small Spaces Series. I hope you'll join me every Saturday as we explore small home living through guest posts, home tours and more.

I've got other ideas percolating for A Joyful Cottage, too.  One is Joy List Monday, which was prompted by Anne of My Giant Strawberry. I love her idea of "taking a few moments to jot down bits of beauty that I've noticed or any little details in my day that are bringing me joy." I'll be sharing more about Joy List Monday, my two  words for 2015 (yup, I have two), and other things in the days ahead.

Thank you so much for being my cottage friends.  You enrich my life in ways you can't imagine. May God bless you and fill your homes with joy and good health in 2015.

  15. Nancy, I found you late in the year, but I enjoyed the rooms I saw! You mentioned building your cottage in 2015, so I went back and found your posts about the design and plans. I can totally relate to the "almost perfect" and then changing your mind! Our house is on the market, and as soon as it sells we'll rent awhile and start building. Although my degree is in interior design, I'm much better at renovating than building from scratch, so this is a new experience for me. I'm trying to "get happy" with a floorplan... I THINK I'm getting close, but time will tell -- as you well know! Praying things go smoothly with your build. I look forward to seeing your progress as you go along. Happy New Year to you and your Captain!
